-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Within the Kilauea volcano caldera, Halema'uma'u crater is a pit crater with lava fluctuation, visible from the Volcano National Park Visitor Center, at the Big Island of Hawai'i. A sight that reminds us what lurks down below.

The Mauna Kea dormant volcano peaks at 4.207 meters above sea level and is located in the Hawai'i island (Big Island), right in the middle of the Pacific. I didn't go that far up the mountain, but I got just over the heavy rain clouds to take a glimpse of the night sky on what is known as one of the best locations for astronomical observation in the planet. At the Mauna Kea summit area there are multiple top end telescopes installed owned by major companies and universities. The sky wasn't perfectly clear that night and the moon was high and bright which took some of the stars away but added detail below. I hope I get to go there again someday!

PT: o Horseshoe Bend ('Curva da Ferradura') é um dos locais mais fotografados do rio Colorado, sendo muito acessível a quem visita Page, no Arizona. EN: Photographed countless times, this easily reachable natural monument is located near Page, Arizona, and it's one of the many meanders of the Colorado river.

The ever reducing Colorado river meanders right through the arid terrain of Arizona, cornering at Willow Beach, where a small marina offers some refreshing comfort to its visitors.

One of the mandatory visiting locations in the Death Valley National Park, Badwater Basin is the lowest point in North America, with an elevation of 86 meters (282 ft) below sea level. Temperatures are extreme at the park in general, and this location is no exception. Salt accumulated at the bottom of the basin crystalizes as water evaporates leaving the rugged terrain depicted.

Taken on the way to the Grand Canyon (North Rim), driving from Page through US-98A. Everything is monumental wherever you look, the name is on the spot - Vermillion Cliffs National Monument.

The Antelope Canyon really lives up to all the hype photography fellows preach around. On a *very* crowded day - highly unusual according to many of the guides there - with groups entering the canyon every half an hour, I actually started out thinking that I wouldn't be able to enjoy it , much less take some photos I'd like. It was one of the highlights of my road trip a few weeks ago along the SW USA. It is a stunning location, and well worth a visit. I love the shapes, the shades and curves all over the place. Treacherous flash floods rush down the Antelope Canyons and smoothly erode the rock walls, leaving a an awesome natural monument to appreciate. I arrived there near high noon, which is not the best hour to visit the Lower Antelope Canyon, in my opinion. The canyon is quite wide at the top in some sections and those are very highly exposed, making it difficult to photograph properly. (I didn't get to visit the Upper one, but to get those light rays you do need to go at that time)
